If your dog has gone missing you need to take the following steps right
away:
Search your neighbourhood, on foot as far as possible, as this will allow you to check drains, under bushes and other possible hiding places. Dogs usually shelter in the heat of the day, so you need to look in shady spots – under cars and steps to buildings. Call friends and neighbours to ask them to look out for him. Make posters and put them up in the area. If you have a computer and can scan in a picture of the dog, all the better. Call veterinary offices in your area and ask if anyone has come in with a dog like yours. Also ask them to allow you to put up a poster in their waiting rooms. Contact AWN and ask that details of your pet be circulated to members by e-mail. Contact the TTSPCA and register the details of your missing dog in their Lost Dog Register. Take in a poster or e-mail it to them at ttspca@hotmail.com. Place an advertisement under “Lost” in the classified section of the newspapers. Read the “Found” advertisements! Watch out for “Found” posters in your area and in the newspapers. Make sure you include your telephone number. Keep your hopes up. |
