When you move house, your pets go with you, of course. On the day you move, make sure that your pets are wearing tags with either your new telephone number, or a cellphone number. To make temporary tags with your contact numbers, write the information on key-ring tags. Cats should be transported in pet carriers if possible. If you use a cardboard box, cut several small holes in the sides for air. Secure the top of the box by tying it on with string or light rope. Cats are very good at pushing up box lids. Dogs should also be transported in pet carriers, if possible. If your dog is used to the car and usually behaves well in it, then just let him sit in his usual place. When you stop at your new home, make sure that the dog’s lead is attached and that someone is holding on to it. Make sure that the cat has not managed to get out of the box or carrier in which she travelled. Only then, should you open the car door and taken your pets into their new homes. The dog can be led outside to examine
his new territory but the cat should be put in one room, with food,
water and a litter box. |
