This additional document is to be read and signed by every person
adopting an animal from the Animal Welfare Network (AWN). The signature
is to be witnessed and the completed form passed to Gina Goindoo
at Vinmer Veterinary Clinic for filing.
It
is the intention of the Animal Welfare Network (AWN) only to advertise
for Adoption animals which are in good health and of sound temperament.
This cannot, however, be completely guaranteed and the AWN cannot
assume any responsibility or liability for any problems (medical
or physical problems with the animal or injury to the new owner
or anyone else) that may occur after an animal is placed in a new
home.
Most animals placed by the Animal Welfare Network will have received
the following treatments prior to rehoming:
-
Routine vaccination.
- Treatment
for ectoparasites (such as ticks and fleas), worming, and bathing
(dogs only).
- Female
animals shall normally be spayed prior to placement in a new home
to ensure that they cannot breed.
- Adult
male animals shall normally be castrated to ensure they cannot
father puppies.
- The
Animal Welfare Network does not have the resources to finance
extensive health profiles of each and every animal it rehomes.
We do not carry out tests on liver or kidney function, Heartworm
or exposure to Throatworm.
It
is the responsibility of the person adopting the animal to ascertain
exactly what tests, treatments and inoculations have been carried
out and when. This information can be obtained from the veterinary
clinic at which the animal has boarded or from the foster home.
It is the responsibility of the adopting person to carry out any
additional tests or treatments at their own expense.
