JOINING & VOLUNTEERING MEMBERSHIP AREAS OF ACTIVITY

Joining & Volunteering

The AWN is always keen to welcome new members and we are need of people who can actively participate in our work on a day to day basis or people who have limited time but may be able to make a financial contribution to our work.

Additionally, the T&TSPCA is in need of donated items to use in caring for animals in their shelter. In the spirit of co-operation for the benefit of all animals, the AWN Management Committee would like you to review the "wish list" below and see what you can do to help. They need:-

Large heavy-duty garbage bags; shampoo (VO5 brand); old sheets and towels; stainless steel bowls; Frontline; hoses; a ladder; 4ft-fluorescent bulbs; disinfectant; dishwashing liquid; leads and collars; heavy duty muzzles (all sizes - cage type); printing services.

Donation of funds towards purchases of chow at Yip Choy Baillie (T&TSPCA customer account number 365). Donation of funds towards purchase of drugs at Young's Pharmacy.

Perhaps you could put some of the above items on your weekend shopping list. Whatever you can do to help will be much appreciated.

Areas of Activity

Members of our Rescue and Rehoming Group:

·         deal with emergencies;

·         rescue animals in need;

·         assess animals for rehoming;

·         place and follow up animals in new homes,

·         and organize low cost spays for owners on low incomes.

We are always in need of people to:

·         transport animals,

·         deal with situations where people have called on us for advice,

·         and to visit animals in clinics awaiting adoption.

·         We have recently started running Adoption Days at the malls and animal handlers are always needed to help organise these and do follow up home assessments.

If you would be interested in helping in this area call our ansaphone service and leave a message. 627 3449.

Notes are also available on road rescue skills.

Members of our Public Awareness Group meet monthly. We:

·         campaign in the media on animal welfare related issues;

·         produce the newsletter;

·         promote pet population control through  education on spaying and neutering;

·         give presentations to interested bodies such as schools;

·         attend public events with information about the organization.

·         and organize training days.

In short, we try to do anything that can bring animal welfare to the attention of the public and change people’s attitudes to animal care in a positive way.

To assist with this group’s activities, please leave a message on our ansaphone and someone will contact you and give you details of our next meeting.

Members of the Fundraising Group raise money. We organise fundraisers on a regular basis and are always in need of help and good ideas.
