Past Adoption Day Summaries
17th January 2004
The AWN recently held another Adoption Day at Mid Centre Mall,
Chaguanas. The event was very successful. All except one of the dogs and
puppies who attended were offered homes. Some of these animals have now
been placed in good, new homes, and we are working on checking the other
offers of homes for the rest of them. We also had some good interest in
the cats and kittens and we managed to home a lovely cat who has been with
us around 8 months. He went to a very caring home, so we are very pleased.
Thanks to everyone who came and expressed interest in AWN's animals.
Thanks also to the Mall for hosting us, to all our supporters and to the
volunteers without whom we could not run such events.
6th September 2003
AWN recently held another successful
Adoption day on 6th September. Around 10 adult dogs and 8 puppies
attended, together with a cat and a couple of kittens. Offers of homes
were received for many of the animals, with the puppies attracting most
interest. We are now in the process of checking the homes and placing the
animals. Unfortunately, 4 of the adult dogs did not get any offers of
homes, so we will be concentrating hard on them in the next week or so to
see what we can arrange for them also.

Our thanks are due to all the volunteers who assisted, to Long Circular
Mall for hosting us, to all our regular sponsors, especially Oscar
Francois, and, as ever, Michelle Morrison, Shira Mohammed Kong and Wendy
Sheppard, who did most of the organising.
12th July 2003
This Adoption Day, held at Trincity Mall, was very successful and we are now in the
process of checking homes and placing the animals who attended. It was
great to have quite a few new helpers who have not been to an Adoption Day
before. Our thanks are due to everyone who assisted, to Trincity Mall for
their hospitality and especially to members Wendy Sheppard and Shira
Mohammed Kong, who organised the day this time.
14th June
2003
Our Adoption Day held at Movie Town on Saturday, 14th
June, 2003 was attended by approximately 20 animals with their handlers and we were,
as always, loyally supported by representatives of Oscar Francois, agents
for Frontline animal care and flea products. Dianne Chinn also came along,
to sell pet I.D. tags.
As usual, this event was both hard work and good fun and it was great
that we had some new volunteers involved who had not assisted at an
Adoption Day before. Unfortunately, Movie Town did not prove to be the
best venue we have ever had, however, with all the Malls currently very
busy with weekend bookings at present, we were lucky to have a venue at
all. As a result of the Adoption Day, several animals were offered homes.
Some have already been placed and we are still in the process of checking
homes for some of the others. Normally, almost all animals attending
Adoption days, sometimes excepting cats and kittens, receive offers of
homes. In this case we were not so lucky, however, at the time of writing,
our thanks are due to Brenda Pakeerah at Newsday who is organising a page
advert for us, featuring those animals who were not lucky enough to be
offered a home. From past experience, these group adverts are very
successful and we are hoping for a good response again, so we can place
those few remaining animals who have been in our care too long.
