Do you really WANT a pet?  Do you know about keeping a pet?  Are you ready to do things for it?  Do you have the space for a pet?  Does your family agree?

 
 

Pet animals are LIVING CREATURES, just like you.

 
  Animals have FEELINGS, just like you.   They can be happy, and like to play.  They can be sad, when someone speaks harshly or hits them.  They feel pain like you, when injured.  They get thirsty,  hungry and tired like you.  They get bored or restless in a small space, like you.  They get irritable or frightened like you.  Without shelter they can get cold at night, or wet, or too hot in the sun.

 
  Animals have NEEDS like you.  They need good food at regular times.  They need to have water to drink all the time.  They need their own space to sleep.  Like you, they need kindness, love and respect.  Like you, they need to communicate and be understood.

 
  Animals get SICK too.  Like you, they need to be vaccinated against diseases.  They need to go to the veterinarian when sick or injured.  They need to have a bath.  They need to be free of fleas and ticks, which make them itchy or sick.

 
  Animals need TRAINING.  Animals need to know how to behave.  They need to learn to go outside to the toilet.  They need to learn to obey simple commands.  Like you, they respond to patience, encouragement, and praise.  Cruelty to animals is as illegal as cruelty to children.

 
  Animals like to PLAY.  Like you, playtime is very important for animals.  They learn balance and strength.  They have joy and happiness.  Sharing games with them makes them better friends with you.

 
  Pets make BABIES.  When your pet grows up it can make babies very often unless you are careful.  If you do not want this to happen, your pet can have a small operation.  There are not enough homes for all the baby pets born.  Baby animals which nobody wants are very sad and often have to be put to sleep.  It is kinder not to let this happen.

 
  RESPONSIBILITY.  When you bring a pet to live with you, you have to CARE for it like a parent.  Your pet can become your best friend.
