to the Animal Welfare Network (AWN) website.  The AWN is a network of volunteers who joined together in late 2000 to pool resources to benefit animals in their local communities.  At present, most of our members live in the Port of Spain area and we would welcome more active members in other parts of the country.  The group has approximately 160 members as of August, 2002. We work out of our own homes.  We do not have a central kennelling facility although we always have cats, dogs, puppies and kittens looking for good homes.  These animals are kept in 3 veterinary clinics in Port of Spain and in foster homes.

As we are a small group and many of the members work full time, it is not always possible to provide someone on the spot to assist with every emergency.  Therefore, we ask anyone calling us for advice to be prepared to try and do as much as they can themselves to assist with any animal in distress.  This will help us work more efficiently and save the time and energy of our more experienced volunteers for where their skills are essential.
